WHAT IS IT? A two day course for anyone involved in the agri-commodity supply chain. The day will give participants the knowledge and skills to better understand grain markets and manage risk using all risk management tools, developing a strategy and a thorough understanding of the causes and effects of volatility. 

Level: this course is suitable for new entrants and those with basic knowledge of price risk management.

Section 1 • Key elements of the global cereals & oilseeds markets; • Supply & Demand, Trade, Currency, Freight, Stocks

Section 2 • Futures markets – background and application • Hedging, options trading (put & calls) and their use in managing volatility and within a purchasing strategy;

Section 3 • Trading strategies, placing orders, timing, hedging vs speculation; • Putting tools into practice – case studies and worked examples
